Fundraising, Grants, and Grant Writing

The National Child Care Information Center (NCCIC) is a national clearinghouse that provides early care and education information and technical assistance. NCCIC is not a funding organization. However, the selected resources provide information about fundraising, how to find available grants, and how to write grant proposals to support your child care program.

  The All Fundraising Companies Directory Web site has information about fundraising products and ideas to support your program.

Federal Grants

• Grants.gov

  The Grants.gov Web site has information about grants available from 26 Federal agencies. The Find Grant Opportunities tool and the Apply for Grants tool can help applicants find potential funding opportunities and simplify the application process by allowing them to download, complete, and submit applications for a specific grant.

• TheCatalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA)

  The CFDA Web site has information about funding programs and contact information for the offices that administer the programs to help you apply. Developing and Writing Grant Proposals is available on the Web at http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/catalog.GRANT_PROPOSAL_DYN.show.

National Organizations

  The Foundation Center Web site provides information about grants to the public through publications, library and learning centers, education, and trainings on the grant-seeking process. The Finding Funders search engine permits applicants to look for funding through various search strategies.

Grant Writing

  The Afterschool.gov Web site has information about Federal resources, including grants, to support children and youth during out-of-school time.
• Writing a Successful Grant Proposal (2004), prepared by the Minnesota Council on Foundations, outlines information that should be included in most grant applications. Visit the Web at www.mcf.org/mcf/grant/writing.htm for more information.
